Fenway Park
There is no baseball stadium in the world that has more history
than the one in the Boston. Fenway Park attracts more than
three million Red Sox fans per year and was the first baseball
venue to be labeled a "Stadium".

Fenway Park History
Opening night for Fenway Park took place April 20, 1912. The
Red Sox defeated the New York Highlanders, who would later
become the Red Sox. The first game didn't make the headlines
due to the sinking of the Titanic which was just days before.
A fire in 1926 destroyed the left field bleachers but due
to financial problems weren't rebuilt. The stadium remained
this way until 1933. Tom Yawkey bought the club and ordered
a major overhaul of the stadium. The construction was well
underway until another fire on Jan 5, 1934 halted construction.
Fenway was finally completed in April 1934. The wooden bleachers
were replaced with concrete and the large 37ft wooden wall
was replaced with sheet metal. It wasn't until 1947, when
the wall was painted green that the park got it's signature
feature, the Green Monster.
Since then there have been very few changes to the park. The
manually operated scoreboard and other out dated features
add to the history and nostalgic feeling you get when watching
a ball game there.
